There wasn't a whole lot going on during our walk to the pond. We stopped at one of the blinds and saw a lot of activity in the vicinity of the feeder. Here are some birds spotted there that afternoon.
A Song Sparrow gathering seed from the ground.
Ok, not a bird, but this chipmunk was sure cute.
White-breasted nuthatch.
White-throated Sparrow.
Carolina Chickadee. Chickadee-dee-dee! I love their song.
Eastern Phoebe.
Another white-throated sparrow.

The ubiquitous Northern Cardinal.

if just one red bird, such as your cardinal, showed up around here, it would make the 11o'clock news! such a beautiful color!
I do love the cardinals. They are so common here that we take them for granted. They also have a wide variety of songs and if you hear one that's unfamiliar, you go looking for the newcomer. "Oh -it's just a cardinal. . ."
I feel rather lucky to be in Ohio during bird migration season. We're on a major pathway that brings an interesting mix of birds in the spring and fall. The cardinals are year-round residents and their red color is absolutely stunning in the winter against a snowy backdrop.
The last bird in the post is a Red-bellied Woodpecker.
