ICM: Eucalyptus grove
Another photo impressionism composition using intentional camera movement. This was taken in a Eucalyptus grove that Steve and I found as we were driving from the Snowy Mountains over to Merimbula.
I wanted to find a grove with a lot of straight trunks of large trees, but the forest we traveled through was much younger in composition. Given the conditions of the setting, the time of day, etc., I think this composition turned out pretty well.

ICM: Mangroves
Back to Australia and some intentional camera movement technique for today's post. This was done along the boardwalk of Merimbula lake. The streaks are bits of light peeking through the leaves. It reminds me of rain for some reason.

Mangrove ICM
I've recently assembled a portfolio of Intentional Camera Movement images to enter into an arts competition. This is one of my selections for the jury. I've no presumptions that my photographic work is worth consideration, but I do like this image a lot.

Aspen Grove - ICM
During a hike in the Laramie Mountains, I found an Aspen grove that seemed about right to try some intentional camera movement technique. Usually I put a neutral density filter on for a long exposure while moving the camera, but I didn't have that with me at the time. This image was done with a fast movement at f/22, ISO 200.

ICM at sunset
We're supposed to get a tiny bit of snow today and tomorrow - not enough to emulate a real winter, but better than nothing.
This photo was made using intentional camera movement in a grove of trees at sunset. It reminds me of fire and how fleetingly the light glows at sunset. It also reminds me that the seasons and years pass by all too quickly, and the winter will be gone (without much snow here) in just a few weeks time....

Winter - ICM
Europe and the US Rocky Mountains are getting all the snow this winter. Ohio is bereft of the winter season, and so I'm left with posting photos from January 13, 2012 - the only snow day we've had this year. Here's another intentional camera movement photo from that day.

ICM -sunset
I found another couple of photos to process from my January 7, 2012 shoot that focused on intentional camera movement. Maybe I should say "unfocused," though.

First snow #2
I have a few more of these winter scenes to post. This one is from my neighborhood after the only snow we've had this season. La NiƱa is having a huge influence on our winter precipitation - mostly rain.

ICM - winter at Whetstone
I thought I was done with this series, but I still have a few more to go. Long exposure in low light yields a mysterious image under normal conditions. Add the intentional camera movement and it becomes another realm.

ICM Abstract #1
Would you believe that this is an ordinary building grate on the OSU campus? I found it near the power plant and decided to experiment with long exposure and intentional camera movement.

ICM - winter abstract
The park bench in our front yard had a dusting of snow. A bit of intentional camera movement during a long exposure yielded an interesting abstract.

First snow #3
Dusk, long exposure, intentional camera movement together with the only snow we're likely to get in January. La NiƱa has influenced a very mild winter here in Ohio.

First snow
We're having our first real snow of the season as of yesterday. It will go through tomorrow. The accumulation began just before sunset, so at dusk Steve and I went out to the front of the house to play with our cameras.
Low light conditions are really great for doing light painting, so, of course, I did some ICM (intentional camera movement) frames. This is our street, looking toward the south.

Light painting #15
So the news this morning has mentioned the impact of the internet protest about SOPA and PIPA. I contacted my senator and representative yesterday as well as not posting visual content to the web. I hope the combined efforts of millions of people contacting their government representatives, and bringing attention to such poorly drafted bills, make a difference.

Light painting #3
Intentional camera movement, long exposure: Glacier Ridge Metro Park. I'm amazed at the variety of effects light painting offers.
