Jalopy in the forest

Jalopy in black & white, originally uploaded by andiwolfe.

My first attempt at B&W processing. I just added the Nik software plug-ins to aperture and I messed around with the software for monochrome settings. This started out as an HDR processed stack of six photos. I like the B&W better than the color. Let me know what you think.

The photo was taken at Glacier Ridge Metro Park.

  1. Very nice shot Andi. I really like the composition and the tonal range.

Not to keen on the soft focus at the edges, I think the composition is strong enough that the viewers attention would be drawn in with out the need for the vignetting effect.

The way the front wheel is wrapped around the tree leaves me wondering about the story behind the deserted jalopy.

  2. Thanks for the comment, Keith. I tried a couple of different settings and chose this effect, with the faded vignette, because of the antique look it gave the image. I thought that matched the style of the jalopy.

This is an interesting decaying truck, stuck out in the middle of nowhere. It invites one to ponder its story, to be sure.
