Birding at Kiwanis Riverside Park

May 10, 2008. Steve and I spent an hour or so looking for warblers at Kiwanis Riverside Park on the Scioto River.

We saw a lot of Yellow-rumped warblers (shown here), a couple of Cape May warblers, black and white warblers, and several yellow warblers.

A real treat was this Baltimore Oriole --

He was busy working on nest building. You can see the patch of orange up there, which is some string to supplement some of plant material put into the nest.

He was pretty busy for the entire time we were birding at this park. It was really fun to watch him.

Yay! New life bird for Steve and me. A veery. It wasn't easy to spot, but I had a hunch that there were more than robins jumping around in the underbrush.
