EEOB - 2nd birding trip

The second EEOB birding trip was on October 28, 2007. We went up to Hoover Reservoir and took in some of the standard areas (Sunbury Dam) and Mud Hen Marsh as well as the board walk. We saw 47 species in about 3.5 hrs, including a couple of life birds for me: red-headed woodpecker and green-winged teal.





Here's some of the group, waiting for the rest of the crew to show up It was a bit chilly - finally, some fall weather.











Because we were interested in the waterfowl, we brought spotting scopes. That's Steve Rissing checking out the bird scene.













Mudhen marsh turned out to be a good spot - that's where we saw the red-headed woodpecker.










At the boardwalk we saw a flock of American pipit, a real treat! Then we went over to the mudflat and saw a lot of other great birds.

You can tell this was the end of the afternoon's activities. Some impromptu found art in progress.
